A Nice Change of Pace

This time of year always makes me truly reflect on all of the blessings in my life. This really isn’t a new practice for me because I have gone to bed every night for the past couple years and thanked God for His guidance and grace. I have been even more thankful since Ashlea and Connor came into my life. I told her last night as we went to bed that little fact. She was genuinely surprised.

This post may be a bit different than you have come to expect, but I want to take a minute to pass on the warmth of the season and point out some happiness.

The past couple nights have been really fun. Trevor and Ashlea and I played Star Wars: Escape from Death Star board game (came out in 1977 – I had one when I was a kid and found a new copy thanks to Ebay!). It was like a trip back in time, but I was sharing a memory from my childhood with my son. It was awesome!

Last night, Ashlea brought the boys to meet me and the guy that introduced us and his twins at CiCi’s pizza buffet for dinner. After that, the seven of us went to see Despicable Me 2 at the dollar theater. We had a great time.

I think that my blended family came together better than I could ever have hoped for. Trevor and Connor view each other as brothers should. That means they play together and have fun one minute, then one is getting on the other’s nerves the next (sound familiar, Scott [my brother]?). I know that Trevor has a lot to which he is adjusting, going from an only-child household to being the big brother to a 4 year old and a new sister on the way. He is doing awesome!! He is really showing his resilience and strength in this regard. I am very proud.

Connor is as sharp as they come! He has a great imagination and it is hard not to play along with him. He makes my heart melt when he tells me he loves me – and when he calls me Dad. I do not want to push his father out, but Connor deserves more than a father that has only seen him 3 times since MAY! I do love that little guy as if he were my own.

As for Ashlea, I just look at her and fall in love all over again – deeper every time. She makes my heart soar and I cannot imagine my life without her. I have loved before, but sincerely feel like this is the first time I have ever been IN love.

I have a great job that I really do enjoy (most of the time) and I love the house in which we all live. It is small, but it is very much a home!

I really do wish any of you readers the greatest of blessings… not just for the time of year, but forever.

Thank you for being patient and I promise my usual posts will be forthcoming.

People! Get Your Shit Together!

Seriously??!! THIS is on what we are choosing to focus?

I am speechless.

How about the actual issue?! The plan itself, then the failure of the website. No, everyone just wants to know who the girl is! Everyone just wants to make a big deal about her heritage!

SHE IS HERE LEGALLY! That should be MORE than enough!

Long story short, a model with a vaguely ethnic look is/was on the website. Everyone go CRAZY!

SO

FUCKING

PATHETIC!

What A Pain In The Ass

Man Forced To Have 12 Hours Of Anal Searching

NOW my righteous indignation is on full force.
What the fuck are they thinking?

Actually, it doesn't matter one tiny little bit.

Here is the Cliff Notes version of the story:
63 year old man is driving and allegedly rolls through a stop sign.
Cope pull him over and decide that he was suspicious (he is described as looking like Tom Petty – not a spitting image, but that “look”).

It gets a little fuzzy from here – no pun intended. At some point, unclear in this story, the man is out of the car and standing. The officers state in their report that he appeared to be “clenching his buttocks”.

One of the officers at the stop asked if he could physically search the man.
He says, “No”.
It is at this point, according to the report says, that a police K-9 dog alerted the officers to the side of the car.
The man is taken to the local hospital where the following happens to him over a 12 hour period:
1.       TWO physical anal cavity searches
2.       X-ray scan
3.       THREE rounds of enemas
4.       Another X-ray scan
5.       Colonoscopy with anesthesia

Nothing was found.
Did you get that? Let me repeat that:

THE FUCKING POLICE AND DOCTORS FOUND ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOTHING UP HIS ASS!!!!
After the 3 damn enemas, not even SHIT was found up his ass!

If that wasn’t enough, he received a bill for $6,000 for the medical procedures he was FORCED to undertake!

(let the rant begin)

They had NO probable cause and it is IMPOSSIBLE to tell if someone is "clenching" if they are seated in the car and you are outside. The article does say at one point that he "denies STANDING with his buttocks clenched", so they got him out of the car at some point. They asked if they could search him and he said, "no", as was his right!

This is furthered into the realm of WHAT THE FUCK by the first doctor the police told to perform the procedures saying it was unethical. The cops simply bypassed him and got another doctor that didn’t voice his opinions to do it.

When did we, the American people, give up our rights to privacy? When did we start living in a fear state where martial law is imposed?

We DIDN’T! Over time, the government has slowly grown bloated on our fear. What I mean by that is we, the average citizen, have allowed events to frighten us. We have run to the government and asked for protection. We push for stronger laws, swifter consequences. Our FEAR drives the legislation. The government has eaten it up. Our government has become the Jabba the Hutt of our Nal Hutta (No, I couldn’t resist the Star Wars reference). The government organization has become power-hungry. It has become corrupt and egotistical. The leaders – resisting another rant subject covered a long time ago – have become no better than crime lords and the police their thugs.

I bet dollars to donuts (and all the cops say, “did someone say donuts?”) that the second doctor saw that the first doctor refused and became scared of the possible consequences to him if he did so as well.

It is up to us as the American people to end this fear mongering the establishment has us doing and make some real changes. Not that bullshit that Obama put out there. Not the insignificant change that makes us feel like we are good people and doing right by the underprivileged. Not the heartwarming nothings that we so often do, thinking that we are making a difference. People need to be removed from their positions of power when that power is abused.

I hope this man wins and gets ALL the money!

He should win and the officers and judge that granted the warrant for the anal cavity probe should lose their jobs!

In other news – related – here is a law student showing he WILL NOT and CANNOT be intimidated because he KNOWS HIS RIGHTS.

We should take a lesson.
